Our Last Meeting

Hi Everyone,

The South Arkansas Writers met at 2 PM on Sunday, 15 February 2026, at Main Street Pizza in El Dorado. Present were Jack and Janet Ryan, Marilyn Joyner, Rick Vosper, and Desireé Stipp-Bethune.

Our next meeting will be at 2PM on 15 March 2026.

News:
1) Desireé has a story which is to appear in the next issue of “The Vault of Terror.”
2) Rick is using Query Tracker (https://querytracker.net/) to help him find an agent for his novel. Perhaps some of you might find the site useful, too.

Writing from Prompts:
1) Desireé read her stories, “Monkees vs. Valentines” and “Old Love-New Love.”
2) Janet read from her “Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatian Post Mostar” stamp page honoring knotted lace.
3) Jack read his short story, “Annette of the Fireflies.”

Prompts for our March meeting include: 1) “The play was a great success, but the audience was a disaster” (a quote by Oscar Wilde), 2) “Saint Patrick’s Day,” 3) “In like a lion...,” 4) “Springtime,” 5) “The Olympics,” and 6) (as always)... “Anything You Want.”

We critiqued Rick’s “Chapter 3” from his “Novel 2” and Jack’s Chapters 18 and 19, “The Galaxy’s Guide to the Hitchhiker” and “The Elzbieta Bud Haiku” from his novel “The Centaurian Bud Vase.” We had some interesting discussions and a lot of good suggestions.

If anyone has something to be critiqued, a news item, another prompt for our next meeting, or would like to present a short “program” on something that you think would be of interest to us all, you can email me at jackwryan@gmail.com

See you in March. Stay Safe.
